Initial Thoughts
Coming out of The Garden in DC, check out this batch of Truffles. It was the first flower I picked out of my selection of strains to dive into because I desired an indica dominant strain to ease some anxiety and mellow my mind and body. However, I also chose it first because of the name – I’m a big fan of truffles in general, both the chocolate and fungus kind – so it stands to reason that I would be a fan of the ganja version as well. Plus, one has to assume that the aroma will be super funky.
Appearance
Dark purple, with some green accents and plenty of trichomes giving tons of dimension. Seeing how beautiful the nugs looked, I had to open things up and get a closer look for myself.
Status
Sticky buds. Resin collected on my fingers and under my nails as I broke it down. It rolled up efficiently, as it held whatever shape you put your crumbles into.
Aroma
Deep earthy, brown sugary, and caramel with some gas. I also picked up some fruity mouthwatering notes too.
Flavor
Very caramel based in flavor. The sweetness of caramel reminded me exactly of my sweet caramel oat milk coffee creamer and it made me smile. I did actually taste notes of coffee which complemented it’s sweet creaminess perfectly.
Lineage
Truffles (aka Truffle & Trufflez) is a cross of Zkittlez and Cherry Noir that was originally bred by Aficionado and typically runs 60/40 indica dominant.
Effects
While sitting and smoking some of this, it dawned on me that I wasn’t feeling stuck like I usually feel from an indica dominant strain. As I got up I felt like I could really think clearly. I was feeling happy and enjoyed my afternoon working without feeling my eyes needing to close and rest. After the high came down just a bit, within an hour or so, I felt my body wanting to lounge around more. Morphing into a couch potato I felt both silly and inquisitive as time seemed to go by more slowly.
Conclusion
My whole experience with this flower was extremely positive. This strain eased my anxiety and let me focus without mental fog or distraction. I can see it having great potential in helping with anxiety, insomnia, pain, PTSD and headaches. I’m definitely going to be on the lookout for Truffles batches in the future and I highly suggest heading to The Garden and picking up some for your own stash. Don’t forget to tell them Toker’s Guide sent you!
