Being originally from the medical side of things over in Maryland I’m someone who is pretty aware of the terpenes in my flower and I always check their percentages even before the cannabinoid levels. In the case of this Abatin Sunflower Yellow (Limonene/Inspire), I was thrilled to see some DC bud that is shining a spotlight on terpenes specifically. This brand has created other terpene-focused strains around many particular terpene profiles, but Limonene has always been one of my favorites so there was no way I could pass this one up. Great for helping to alleviate stress, anxiety, and improve mood, this uplifting flower is one I hope will be ideal for getting my day started in the mornings!
Light green with bright red and orange pistols.
Small – mid sized triangular shaped buds.
I smelled a light citrus smell. It wasn’t overpowering but enough to hint at its energizing potential.
Bright citrus inhale with a smoky lemon aftertaste.
We can’t be sure what specific strain Sunflower Yellow is, but the editing team has their money on Sunflower Sunshine, which is a slightly sativa leaning cross of Sunshine and OG Kush.
I’m happy to report that this was the pump-you-up sativa influenced wake-and-bake specimen that I thought it would be. With it I was able to power through my work and to-do lists and, overall, had a super positive day. It’s got a slightly buzzy but non-anxious high, and the body feel is a bit tingly while also relieving some back and shoulder tightness – pain that I was carrying after a not so great sleep the night before.
If you’re searching for a cultivar that is going to help promote a stress-free mind and pick you up while giving you a clear-headed, sunny perspective throughout your day, I highly suggest this Sunflower Yellow. I’m looking forward to trying some others in the Abatin terpene lineup as well, but I have a feeling this is one that I will continue to have inspiring me for some time, when available.
