Typically when I see the word sour in a strain, such as this Sour Purple Punch from DC i-71 storefront dispensary, The Green Room, it leads me to believe that I will have an energetic experience. I’m always on the hunt for a strain that can keep me focused with some energy, yet also internally calms my anxiety, and balanced 50/50 hybrids have achieved this for me in the past. In this case, I’m also a fan of the parent strains’ effects, though for completely different reasons. Purple punch crosses can usually help to ease my mind and give me clarity while Sour Diesel gives me body relaxation with mental stimulation. Therefore, I’m really curious to see how these characteristics play out when combined.
Fat green buds with a brush of trichomes all over.
Tightly packed large nugs.
Cured nicely. Overall smell and nug-feel prove to me it is ripe and ready to smoke.
Fresh sweet berries, lemon and fuel.
Tropical, diesel, citrus.
Sour Purple Punch is a balanced, 50/50 cross of Panama Punch and Sour Diesel strains.
Before partaking in this strain for the first time I was feeling a bit overwhelmed with my anxiety creeping in. I am happy to report that I felt my body relax, and my mind followed as well, just a few moments after I exhaled. As the high set in my perspective started to get even more light-hearted, giggly, and there was inner peace for the whole duration. I’d say the high worked precisely as I thought it might with aspects that calm my mental angst but afforded enough control over my focus and energy levels as well.
Overall, this hybrid is a twist of sedating and energizing that worked well for me in numerous instances across daytime and at night. In the morning I was kept energized and attentive, but at night it put my mind at ease and after about an hour of a comfortable buzz I was ready for a good night’s rest.
