Initial Thoughts
The tart cherry nose on this Black Cherry Soda from DC i-71 cannabis dispensary, The Treehouse, is so bold it’s reminiscent of the actual beverage itself – something I also love in the summertime. I don’t know if you can call a flower’s scent effervescent, but that’s the first word that came to mind when I got might first whiff. Maybe that’s how it got the Soda in its name – very appropriate!
Appearance
Beefy, dense, and bright green buds with purple accents, orange hairs, and both starry and white trichomes throughout.
Status
Fresh, but starting to cure.
Aroma
A tart, fruity, decidedly cherry profile with hints of lime and cake.
Flavor
Tart, fruity, bready, and gassy with hints of lemon and earth.
Lineage
The Black Cherry Soda strain is a combination of Cherry AK47, Cinderella 99, Ortega, Airborne G13, and Blackberry strains that can run from 50/50 to 80/20 sativa heavy depending on the pheno and breeder preference. I would call this batch balanced with some sativa energy.
Effects
This is a tricky high because it comes on strong with initially disorienting effects, but then the headiness brings both clarity and energy. It’s uplifting, but if you get caught by the initial onset too much you could be frozen in a mesmerized state for a half hour. In the past I’ve experienced Black Cherry Soda cuts that are tremendously uplifting with coffee-like energy, but I would say this batch is much more mellow than that. Probably best left for the daytime and definitely not for the newbs.
Conclusion
This is a great batch of one of my top ten favorite varietals and its flavor is utterly delicious in any format. The uplifting aspects are great for helping me power through my to-do list and I don’t feel any edginess like I might with some other powerful sativa’s.
