What an absolute stand-out! The first thing that struck me about this batch of Black & Blue flower from DC craft cultivator, Alternative Solutions (Alt Sol), was its delightful smell. I really cannot stress this enough: I do not believe I’ve ever smelled a strain like this before. It was so candy-like it practically made my stomach growl! I did my absolute BEST to make it last, but I just couldn’t stop going back to it – it’s fantastic to say the least.
The Black & Blue cultivar is a combination of Aussie Blues – a Blue Haze cross – and the
potent indica, Black Russian. I understand that hybrids tend to be on an incredibly broad spectrum, and often greatly mirror their immediate parents, but this one – my beautiful Tokers – is a prime example of a hybrid that stands out completely on its own.
It tastes EXACTLY how it smells; with its sweet peppery aroma wrapping itself around your taste buds as it provides you with a heavy and hazy effect. Although it is often classified as a 50/50 I couldn’t deny its indica genetics right away. It has a tendency to keep you coasting on an uplifting wave before throwing you back down into an immense body glow.
Black & Blue has the profile needed to lift stress and anxiety off your brow while
taking away your minor aches and pains at the same time. As wonderful as it was
for stress, this is one that I would not recommend for focus. The cerebral
experience it provided was immaculate, but more fog-like and not something I’d
use for productivity. After an evening joint, a few streaming shows, and my
third bowl of cereal it put me to sleep for the night. When I woke, I was notably well rested and ready to take on my day. Given this experience, I’m saving it mostly for evening use.
Black & Blue has quickly become one of my favorite hybrids from Alternative Solutions, which is a high standard to reach considering the consistent quality of their flower. Just head to Takoma Wellness Center today to check it out for yourself and see the full line of awesome Alt Sol products. Don’t forget to tell them Toker’s Guide sent you!
